Position of Visiting Researcher at the Nissan Institute of Japanese Studies for Post-doctoral fellows from the Graduate School of Education and the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Tokyo
In March 2011, the Nissan Institute of Japanese Studies at Oxford University and the Graduate School of Education and Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Tokyo agreed to establish an academic exchange programme.
As a part of this agreement the Nissan Institute will accept junior-level visiting researchers (one or two per annum) for a half or a full academic year from these two institutions.
Eligibility
Eligible candidates are those who work on Japan related research in social sciences or history and are JSPS Post-doctoral fellows or funded by other sources. The candidates must also be affiliated as post-doctoral fellows with the Graduate School of Education or the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Tokyo.
Please note that this visiting position will not provide any financial support from the Nissan Institute or Oxford University. All the expenses for transportation and the cost of living in Oxford should be paid by the researchers themselves. Neither is this programme intended to provide degree-oriented courses at Oxford University. The visiting researchers, however, will be granted the University’s ID, opportunities to attend seminars held in the Nissan Institutes, other departments, or colleges at Oxford, and privileges to use the University libraries and computer facilities, as well as opportunities to do research amongst academic staff at the Nissan Institute.
Application is open at any time. It is the Nissan Institute of Japanese Studies that makes the selection and the final decision of acceptance.
